R. Erik Johnson, age 49, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in Muskegon, MI after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Muskegon, MI on June 12, 1968 to Jack Johnson and Barbara Corey Johnson. He graduated from Reeths-Puffer High School in 1987. He founded the first Natural Health Mart in North Muskegon, MI then expanded when he purchased the Health Hutt stores in Norton Shores and Grand Haven. He realized his dream by creating a natural environment of nutrition throughout the West Michigan communities of Muskegon and Grand Haven. Erik's wishes were that his employees carry on his legacy, by providing natural health alternatives to his customers. Erik was a member of the Viking Lodge and the Sons of Norway. Mr. Johnson enjoyed reading, bowling, traveling, animals, hiking, and taking walks with his dog Pepe' in Hoffmaster State Park and the Muskegon Dog Beach at Bronson Park.
Survivors include his sister, Linda (Fletcher) Fowler, and nephew Fletcher of West Palm Beach FL; and many wonderful uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Barbara Corey Johnson; uncle, Arnold "Bob" (aunt, Toshiko) Johnson; aunt, Carmen (uncle, Burl) Slocum; uncle, Clifford Johnson; and grandparents, Arnold Johnson and Agnes (Kristiansen) Johnson, grandparents, Velma and Glen Corey.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE
Saturday, November 11, 2017, 11:45 AM at Vikings Lodge.
Donations in Erik's memory can be made to the Humane Society. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
