Norm Mysen, age 90 years old, flew West on April 16, 2019. His final check ride. Norm was born on August 30, 1928 in Muskegon MI. He graduated from Muskegon High School in 1946 and enlisted in the US Navy in 1950. He was very proud to be chosen a Navy Fighter Pilot in 1953 and flew early jets (F9/F5’s) off the aircraft carrier, USS Yorktown. He also had the privilege and pleasure of flying Navy Eight, the Blue Angels transport plane for two years. Norm left the Navy in 1956 and became a pilot for Trans World Airlines and retired a Captain after 28 years of service. During his flying career, he flew 14 different aircraft and logged in over 23,000 hours of flight time and was chosen to be a flight instructor for the crew of Air Force One for three years. He also became an instructor of TWA pilots for 15 years. Norm loved hunting and fishing and after his retirement from TWA in 1985 he earned his Charter Captain’s license. He chartered salmon fishing trips on Lake Michigan for 10 years until a major stroke kept him from continuing. Norm was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #140. He will sorely be missed by all his family and friends who loved him so very much!
