Life Story / Obituary
Lottie M Koehler "Aunt Lottie", a native of Owen County, Kentucky and a resident of Prairieville, LA, passed away on February 26, 2017 at the age of 89. Aunt Lottie loved tending to her flowers, feeding her birds, but most of all she loved being surrounded by her family and friends, whether it was celebrating a special occasion or just sitting on the back porch and visiting. She was a sweet and gentle soul who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her niece and nephew, Karen and Daryl Wax, and their children Jessica and Taylor, of Prairieville, LA, who were like her children and grandchildren, taking loving care of her until she joined the love of her life, Uncle Charlie; niece, Rita Purtlebaugh and husband Greg, and their children Tyler, Zach and Carson; nephew, Gene Gulley of Columbus, Indiana; her "adopted" niece and nephew, Leslie and Al Mix of Baton Rouge, LA. She also leaves behind a niece, Susan Laverty and husband Scott, and their children, Elizabeth, David, Sarah, and Hannah of Connecticut; son, Mark Koehler of California; daughter, Mira Barks of Virginia; three grandchildren, Sandra, Charles, and David; and four great grandchildren, Mark, Rachael, Avery, and Jack. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Charlie; her sisters, Virginia Lee, Allon, and Nell; and parents, Nora and Harry Lee. Following her wishes, a family graveside service will be held at Laketon Cemetery in Muskegon, Michigan on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Karen and Daryl would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Paula and Debbie, two special caregivers that took loving care of Aunt Lottie, and who have become a part of our family.
