Life Story / Obituary
Lena Belle Thomas, 85, of Montague, Michigan passed away after a long and wonderful life on April 1st, 2018. Belle was a friend to many, a gifted nurse, a caring supervisor, and the matriarch of her joyful family. She graced this world with vibrancy, passion, her quick wit, fun spirit, and open heart. Belle left a wonderful legacy with her family, patients that she treated as a Registered Nurse, individuals she supervised, and all who were blessed to call her a friend. We are comforted to know Belle joined heaven on Easter to celebrate the day with long-lost family and friends. We are certain that joy, laughter, a card game, a flower garden, and an endless supply of books awaited her.
Belle was born in Onaway, Michigan to Gilbert and Beatrice Morgan. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman Thomas, parents, and brothers Jack and Carl. She is survived by her brother Bill, five children Kate (m. Dennis), Pete, Mark (m. Tricia), Trish (m. Doug), and Matthew (m. Mary), seven grandchildren, Jennifer (m. Dan), Josh (m. Dawn), Erica, Samantha (m. Kevin), Nicci, Morgan, and Maxwell, eleven great-grandchildren, Johnathon, Joseph, Wyatt, Jillian, Jack, Kaidyn, Sydney, Jordyn, Lakelan, Briley Belle, and Declan, and one great-great grandchild Jocelynn.
It was Belle’s wish, and accordingly is the family’s wish, to hold an event in the summer to celebrate her life in lieu of a funeral or burial. The family would like to thank all who cared for Belle with dignity and love during these last years. We will always carry the memories of Belle in our grateful hearts.
