Mrs. Muriel A. Rillema, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2017. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on April 18, 1926 to Harry & Retha (Davis) Schalk. Muriel graduated from Muskegon High School in 1944 and attended Muskegon Junior College-Hackley School of Nursing where she received her RN Degree. She married Jack C. Rillema I on November 22, 1947. She and Jack raised their family in the Muskegon/Whitehall area. Muriel worked as a nurse at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Muriel enjoyed playing Bridge. She was an avid blood donor and volunteer for the American Red Cross. Muriel was extremely proud of her husband's sailing and Scottville Clown Band accomplishments and enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's activities and sporting events. Muriel and Jack share a friendship since 1950 with their love of the Michigan State University Spartans with Jim and Pat Demond of Fort Wayne, IN.
Husband of 69 years, Jack; daughters, Judith Morsinkhoff, Susan (Rusty) Streblow, Jill (Kris) Landman; son, Jack (Karolyn) Rillema II; grandchildren, Kyle (Lea) Streblow, September (Simon) Dykema, Andrew Morsinkhoff, Jonathan (Melissa) Morsinkhoff, Holly (Steven) Schmiedeknecht, Hannah Rillema, Hope Rillema, Mackenzie Landman; great grandchildren, Rylan Dykema, Kason, Morsinkhoff, Josiah Morsinkhoff, Lilah Grace Morsinkhoff and Elsie Schmiedeknecht; sister, Joan Scraver. She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Peterson.
