Mrs. Maryann (Oakleaf) Anderson of Whitehall, Michigan passed away on Monday, May 7th, 2018 at age 83, due to complications following a stroke, Maryann was born to Erwin and Mildred (Codd) Oakleaf on March 11, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. As a child Maryann lived in Chicago, Il, St.Louis, MO and Rothbury, MI. She married Junior Arthur (aka Andy) (aka J. Arthur) Anderson of Whitehall, MI in 1954 and they had four (4) children.
Maryann became a cosmetologist and had her own salon in Whitehall called Oakleaf Lane. She was also very active in the American Legion - Algot Johnson Post 69 in Whitehall. Although Maryann was raised Catholic, when she married she became a member of the Evangelical Covenent Church of Whitehall where she raised her family. She recently was received into membership of the United Methodist Church of Montague.
Maryann is survived by her daughter Ilene (Fred) Nichols of Whitehall, MI, and her son Patrick (Bonnie Ruegsegger) Anderson of Muskegon, MI, son-in-law Chris Dohnal; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Arthur Anderson; son Michael Anderson and her daughter Linda (Anderson) Dohnal; her parents Erwin and Mildred Oakleaf and her brother Erwin (Sonny) Oakleaf Jr.
Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church of Montague, 8555 Cook Street, Montague, MI on Saturday, May 12th, 2018. Beginning at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon will be provided following the service where all are invited to share photo’s and memories of Maryann.
Maryann was an avid supporter of youth ministries, so in lieu of flowers the family request that you continue her legacy with a donations to the Youth Ministries of the United Methodist Church of Montague, 8555 Cook Street, Montague, MI 49437.
