Life Story / Obituary


Mrs. Helen Jean Orshal, age 90, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016. She was born in Ludington, Michigan on September 27, 1925 to Walter & Helen (Mucha) Dummer and married Kenneth Orshal on July 31, 1948. Jean worked at Continental Motors, was a teacher's assistant at McMillan school, and with her husband owned and operated Sunset Beach Resort. Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose theme song was "On The Road Again". Jean was a member of the Women's Division of the Chamber of Commerce and volunteered on the USS LST as well as at the gift shop in Hackley Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.


Daughter, Deborah (Dale) DeKuiper with their children, Jessica DeKuiper & Rebecca DeKuiper; son, Kenneth (Kathleen) Orshal with their children, Abigail (fiancé Bob) Orshal & Hannah (Dylan) Dixon; great grandchildren, Owen, Jackson, Michael, Lauren and Anna; brothers, James, Gerald & Dale Dummer; sisters, MaryAnn Perkins & Barbara Dummer; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth & brothers, Allen & Walter Dummer.


Friday, August 12, 2016, 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1110 Dykstra Rd., Muskegon MI with Fr. Peter Vu officiating. Interment in Laketon Township Cemetery.


Thursday, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: Donations may be directed to the Women's Division Scholarship Fund, American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
