Life Story / Obituary
Mr. Dale Elmer Ogborn, age 87 and lifetime Muskegon resident, passed away peacefully at the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence in Muskegon, Michigan, on October 26th, 2016, of natural causes. Mr. Ogborn was born in Muskegon, Michigan on December 17, 1928 to Bert & Gladys (Lattin) Ogborn. Though developmentally challenged since childhood, “Uncle Dale” lived a very full life. He was often seen at the Dollar General Store, was fascinated with gadgets, rode his moped all around town, solely controlled the clicker to his wide screen television set and enjoyed Twinkies, Ho Hos and ice cream sandwiches with abandon. Basically, Uncle Dale lived life his way. Dale was gainfully employed at Shaw Walker Office Furniture for 38 years, living with his loving parents within walking distance of his beloved factory. He attended the Norton Shores Assembly of God and the Lakeside Assembly of God churches with his godly parents for many years back in the 1950s through the 1970s. The Ogborn family will always be grateful for Dale receiving the finest of care provided by the wonderful hospice staff. We also appreciate the nurses at the Mercy Health Hackley Campus ICU, for their tender care, attention to detail and professional medical decision guidance during this transition in life for Dale. Also, a very special thanks goes to his niece, Trudi, and Derek Batt who provided care and support for Dale in their own home for his final 7 years of life.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Ogborn, and his sister, Mabel (Ogborn) Foust. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives too numerous to mention. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, as well as, his brothers Kenneth, Wayne and Jack.
Saturday, October 29, 2016, 4:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon, 1469 Peck Street, Muskegon. Interment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens on Monday.
