Life Story / Obituary
Mr. Arthur Anton Johnson, age 87, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on June 28, 1928 to Anton & Lena (Wolf) Johnson and served his country in the US Army. He married the former Betty Frutchey on July 4, 1946. Mr. Johnson had been a building contractor and the former owner of Pine Campground at Meinert Park and Johnson Trailer Resort for 8 years until retiring in 1984. Arthur was a member of the Whitehall American Legion Algot Johnson Post 69. He loved camping and building things and will be greatly missed by his family.
Daughters, Karen, (Ron) Mikkelson of Montague, Kathy Kumar of Saginaw; grandchildren, David Dawe, Kendra Mikkelson, Kyle & Alex Johnson; great grandchildren, Bailey, Taylor, Brooklyn, Avery & McKenna; brothers, Lawrence (Karen) Johnson of Muskegon, Paul (Rose Mary) Johnson of Muskegon, Vern (Judy) Johnson of Fremont; sisters, Elaine (Harold) Haase of Spring Lake, Darlene (Lloyd) Sarasin of Muskegon, Norma (Joseph) Scott of Muskegon; daughter-in-law, Amy Johnson of Whitehall; brother-in-law, Bud (Wanda) Frutchey; sisters-in-law, Betty Johnson, Virginia Gale; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Ronald; grandson, Chad Johnson; brother, Carl and sister, Ruth; son-in-law, John Kumar.
Friday, April 22, 2016, 1:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Pastor James Enns officiating. Interment with Military Honors in Oak Grove Cemetery-Montague. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to Transitional Health Services.
